Garage Door Service for Monroe Homes, Old and New

Monroe has a little of everything when it comes to garage doors. Some homes around downtown and the older neighborhoods have doors that have been there for decades, often wood or heavy single-layer steel on extension springs. Then there are the subdivisions that went up as Union County grew, many with the builder-grade door and opener that came with the house.

Those two groups tend to have different problems:

  • Older homes: worn extension springs, rusted tracks, rotted bottom sections on wood doors, and openers with no safety sensors at all.
  • Newer subdivisions: original springs that were rated for the fewest cycles the builder could get away with, and openers hitting the end of their life around year 10 to 15.

We work on both. We’ll tell you which category your door falls into and what it actually needs, and that’s sometimes less than you expect.

Our Services

What Monroe Homeowners Call Us For Most

Other common calls

Cables, Dented Panels, and Doors Off Track

Cable repair. When a cable snaps or comes off the drum, the door usually hangs crooked and stops. Don’t run the opener. We’ll reset or replace the cables and check the springs, since the two often fail together. More on cable repair.

Dented or damaged panels. A bumper tap or a stray basketball can crease a panel and bind the door. If the rest of the door is in good shape, a single section can sometimes be replaced, depending on whether the manufacturer still makes a matching panel. If it doesn’t, we’ll talk through your options honestly, including whether a new door makes more sense.

Door off track. If a roller has popped out of the track, stop using the door. Forcing it can bend the track and the panels. We’ll get it back on, replace bent hardware, and find out why it came off in the first place.

Seasonal care

Union County Summers Are Hard on Garage Doors

Monroe garages get hot. A door that faces west and takes the afternoon sun from June through September expands, and the weatherstripping along the bottom dries out and cracks. Humidity adds rust on springs and tracks that never get lubricated.

A few things that help:

  • Spray the springs, hinges and rollers with a garage door lubricant (not WD-40) twice a year, spring and fall.
  • Check the bottom seal. If you can see daylight under the closed door, it’s time to replace it.
  • Once a month, put a roll of paper towels under the door and close it. It should reverse when it touches. If it doesn’t, call us. That’s a safety issue.

When we’re out for a repair, we’ll look over the rest of the door and tell you if anything else is close to failing.

Before You Call: Three Quick Checks

Not every garage door problem needs a service call. If your door is acting up, try these first. They take five minutes and might save you the visit.

The door goes down, then pops right back up. Look at the two small sensors near the floor on each side of the door. If one has a blinking light or the lights are off, they’re out of line or something is blocking the beam. Wipe the lenses and gently turn the sensor until the light goes solid. Kids’ bikes, trash cans and spider webs are the usual culprits.

The remote doesn’t work, but the wall button does. Swap the remote’s battery. If that doesn’t do it, check that the lock button on the wall panel isn’t turned on. Many LiftMaster panels have a lock that blocks every remote.

Nothing works at all. Check that the opener is plugged in and the outlet has power. Garage outlets are often on a GFCI that trips during storms. Look for a reset button on an outlet in the garage, the bathroom or outside.

If none of that fixes it, or you see a broken spring, a loose cable or a door hanging crooked, stop there and call us. Those aren’t safe DIY repairs.

A Family Company, Not a Call Center

Rise Up is owned and run by Adam Piana, who started the company in 2016 after seeing his mother get taken advantage of during a garage door spring replacement. He’s spent more than 35 years in home services, including years as a locksmith, and the company still runs on the idea that you should know exactly what you’re paying for and why.

New residential torsion springs carry a 12-month warranty, and all of our work comes with a satisfaction guarantee.

“I called Rise Up on Friday morning at 8:30, Adam was here by 9:30. The job was done by noon.”

Rise up was quick to respond and prompt with service. From the start Adam was kind, explained everything to me thoroughly, and was upfront about the pricing. I accidentally ran into my garage door and cracked the frame. He reinforced it in less than 30 mins and had it working like it was brand new! I am so thankful to him! They are very affordable as well and I will recommend them to all. Very happy with my service!

Adam was very responsive when I asked him to come to my home to give me an estimate. Once I decided to go with him, her was able to do the work with in a week. Repaired/finished the install on an old Genie opener that had been under for 15 year. Installed a new Liftmaster opener on the 2nd door. Replaced all the wheels on both doors. Excellent work. Reasonable prices.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Rise Up Garage Doors, and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service and the quality of the motor that was installed. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless and efficient. Adam was incredibly responsive, and quick to tend to our issue. He was punctual, professional and well prepared. He assessed the issue with my garage door swiftly and provided a clear explanation of the necessary repairs. We ended up needing a new motor as our was about 20+ years old and in bad shape to where our door wasn't opening any longer. He made sure we were fully informed about the work being done and the costs involved, which were very reasonable. The new motor is wonderful, we can barely hear the door open/close with all the key updates we needed. Overall, I highly recommend Rise Up Garage Doors for anyone in need of garage door services. Their fast, efficient, and professional approach sets them apart from the rest.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge extra to come out to Monroe?

Monroe is part of our regular service area. We’ll go over any service fee when you call, before we schedule anything.

It depends on the day, but we’re about 25 minutes away and a lot of repair calls get handled the same day or the next morning.

Sometimes. It depends on whether a matching section is still made for your door. We’ll check the make and model and tell you straight whether a panel or a new door is the better value.

My opener is 15 years old. Repair or replace?

If it’s a simple fix like sensors or a gear kit, repair it. If the logic board is failing, or it’s an older model without modern safety features, replacing it usually makes more sense. We’ll give you both prices.

Yes. We’re LiftMaster Certified and install myQ-enabled openers, keypads and remotes.

Yes. We’ll measure, go over styles and options, and give you a quote with no pressure to decide on the spot.
