Garage Doors That Have Been Left Alone a While
A garage door is one of those things nobody thinks about until it quits. Plenty of the doors we get called to have gone years without a tune-up, and by then it isn’t one problem, it’s three.
Here’s what usually piles up on a door that’s been left alone:
- Springs that have lost tension, so the opener is doing the lifting and wearing itself out.
- Rollers with flat spots or broken bearings that grind in the track.
- Cables starting to fray down near the bottom brackets.
- A bottom seal that’s cracked or missing, letting in water, leaves and mice.
None of that has to mean a new door. Most of it is routine work, and we’ll tell you what actually needs doing now and what can wait.

When a Garage Door Jumps the Track
It usually happens fast. Something’s in the way when the door comes down, or a car bumps it, or a worn roller finally pops out. Now the door is hanging crooked and the opener is either straining or stopped.
Please don’t try to force it back. A door off its track is under strain, and if a cable has come off the drum too, the spring may be holding a lot of energy. Leave it, keep everyone clear, and call us.
“I was not thinking and shut the garage door with a tall sign in the way and the door jumped the tract. We called and not 15 mins later they were out and able to fix the door for WAY less then I thought.”
Jillian F., Google review
We’ll get it back in the track, straighten or replace bent track and rollers, check the cables and springs, and make sure it runs smoothly before we leave.

Is It Time for a New Garage Door?
We’ll always tell you if a repair is the smarter move. But there are a few signs that you’re putting money into a door that’s done:
- You’ve had more than one major repair in the last couple of years.
- Sections are cracked, rotted at the bottom or badly dented.
- Replacement parts for your door are hard to find.
- It’s uninsulated and the garage is miserable in July and January.
If that sounds like your door, take a look at our garage door replacement page. We’ll measure, bring options and give you a quote with no pressure.

Who You're Calling
Rise Up Garage Doors is Adam Piana’s company. He opened it in 2016 after seeing his own mother get taken advantage of on a spring replacement, and after more than 35 years in home services, including locksmith work, he knew exactly how a job like that should have gone.
So we keep it simple. You see the problem, you get the price, and then we do the work. New residential torsion springs carry a 12-month warranty, and everything we do has a satisfaction guarantee.
“He came out to repair our garage door the day after I called, showed up on time, and quickly fixed the problem.”

Rise up was quick to respond and prompt with service. From the start Adam was kind, explained everything to me thoroughly, and was upfront about the pricing. I accidentally ran into my garage door and cracked the frame. He reinforced it in less than 30 mins and had it working like it was brand new! I am so thankful to him! They are very affordable as well and I will recommend them to all. Very happy with my service!Posted on Google![]()

Adam was very responsive when I asked him to come to my home to give me an estimate. Once I decided to go with him, her was able to do the work with in a week. Repaired/finished the install on an old Genie opener that had been under for 15 year. Installed a new Liftmaster opener on the 2nd door. Replaced all the wheels on both doors. Excellent work. Reasonable prices.Posted on Google![]()

I recently had the pleasure of working with Rise Up Garage Doors, and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service and the quality of the motor that was installed. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless and efficient. Adam was incredibly responsive, and quick to tend to our issue. He was punctual, professional and well prepared. He assessed the issue with my garage door swiftly and provided a clear explanation of the necessary repairs. We ended up needing a new motor as our was about 20+ years old and in bad shape to where our door wasn't opening any longer. He made sure we were fully informed about the work being done and the costs involved, which were very reasonable. The new motor is wonderful, we can barely hear the door open/close with all the key updates we needed. Overall, I highly recommend Rise Up Garage Doors for anyone in need of garage door services. Their fast, efficient, and professional approach sets them apart from the rest.Posted on Google![]()

Locust Garage Door FAQs
Is Locust too far out for you?
No. It’s a straight drive east from our Mint Hill shop on NC-24/27, and Locust is part of our regular service area.
My door came off the track. What should I do?
Stop using it, unplug the opener if you can reach it safely, and keep people and cars clear. Don’t try to pull it back into place. Call us and we’ll get it back on and replace whatever got bent.
My door hasn't been serviced in years. Where do I start?
A tune-up. We’ll check spring tension and balance, look at the cables, rollers and hinges, lubricate the moving parts and test the opener’s safety features. It’s the easiest way to catch problems before they leave you stuck.
Is my old door worth fixing?
If the sections are solid and it’s just springs, rollers or an opener, usually yes. If panels are cracked or rotted, parts are hard to find, or you’re fixing something every few months, a new door often costs less in the long run. We’ll give you both options.
Do you give free estimates on new doors?
Yes. We’ll measure, go over styles and give you a quote at no charge.
Do you warranty springs?
Yes. New residential torsion springs come with a 12-month warranty.
Can you add a keypad or smart control to my opener?
Often, yes. Many newer LiftMaster openers work with myQ so you can open, close and check the door from your phone. If your opener is too old for that, we can talk about whether a new one is worth it.
Are you open on Saturdays?
Yes, from 9 to 2. Weekdays we’re open 8 to 5, and we’re closed on Sundays.
